I'm trying to get a trip put together for one weekend. I'm pretty pumped as I plan on bringing my two young boys for their first trip ever.

Anyone ever have luck doing this out of a piro or kayak? Do you need to gig or can just catch with hands? What kind of license is needed?

I have grabbed a few out of my pirogue coming back from bow hunting. it can get a little scary making sudden jerks. Bring a Go Pro, strap to your head and then enjoy the bloopers at a later date.

We've always had a no gig or net policy. It's just more fun catching with your hands. I will be bringing a net for my boys this year though being they are 6 and 8.

So just need a pirouette, paddle, and headlamp and what color eyes to look for? Sorry I’d like to get into it for fun but and have some but I’ve never done it. I’ve got fishing license, pirouette and or kayak, and paddle already

That's how my friend does it, I prefer to grab them with my hand. I lose too many in the grass when I try the whack method.
