Staying in Fort Morgan for the week and looking for some excitement other than swimming and drinking. Where and on what are the fish biting? I have a saltwater rod and a kayak.

You've got easy off road access to some good spots in the bay. If night fishing from the pier is your thing the GSP is one of the nicest I've seen.

"Dixey Bar" is located off fort Morgan.

Read up on it so you know the unwritten rules for fishing the area of other boats are present. It's Alabama's most popular spot for bull reds (which is a blast in a kayak)

Sure you can catch them on the normal baits (finger mullet and shrimp) but I've read a lot of folks use large mullet heads as bait on Dixey Bar. There's some rocks just offshore on the gulf side of the point too that will hold fish

If you go down to Ft. Morgan, you can fish the bay side into Mobile Bay. You can throw some Vudu Shrimp or catch some live bait. Havent heard of anyone beating them up lately tho.... Good Luck.

there is a concrete wall about 4' wide that crosses the road right before entry into Ft. Morgan property. Park and take the wall to the right for access to the bay. It's a long haul for a kayak, but you can wade around and catch flounder, reds and the occasional speck back there. Other than that, I always caught hardtails, bluefish and a random speck in the surf on krocodile spoons.

I'm staying at Phoenix West at the end of the month. Might have to take a drive down here.

i fished the crap out of the point where the ferry is located, mostly on the gulf side. I used about every color matrix shad made under cork & suspended and changed leader length under cork multiple times. maybe one bite out of 100's of casts'. This was about a month ago @ sunrise. g'luck.

Don't do DB in a yak. There are some massive ships that come in and go out right by that spot. Not worth the risk.

The pier on the bay side across from plantation / kiva is productive. Have a Bama fishing license. Green jeans hits the bay side hard.

This should be your view from the sand looking out over the gulf and bay.

Dixie Bar is to the left ....we have caught MASSIVE reds out there

Last year - trolling over DB with spoons - usually do much better that that....and croakers will get them from shore - you can get flounder up next to the wooden pier - but they had it roped off 3 weeks ago :-(

Outside the park, there's some good metal detecting,

I found a Confederate Staff button and 3 Block Is.

Also about 20 eagle buttons.
