Does anyone own one or have heard feedback on its reliability since its introduction?

My buddy has an ‘18 platinum with the diesel. It’s pretty sweet and damn smooth with the 10 speed. Great gas mileage too.

Yup, I have a Lariat with the PS3.0. I'd buy one again, drove West Monroe to Magnolia Ar (and back) yesterday, reset the dash MPG when I left, and it now reads 27.2. I will say that is usually 25.5-26 normally.

PS 3.0, FX4 Package, 3.31 gears, winch, grill guard, and HD towing package.

I test drove a 2019 and was not impressed. I thought it had a pretty significant turbo lag, though some of that might have been because I am used to the 6.7L.

It also seemed to take its sweet time getting on the interstate.

I bought another 6.7L.

That's great. What's it rated to tow? 3.31 is the same rear end they use in the 10 speed 3/4 tons. What rear gear do the not HD tow package ones have?

If you dont have many miles on the truck yet, the fuel mileage should continue to improve slightly for a while.

Thought they used 4.10s and either 3.55 or 3.73 in the 6.2 in the Super Duty gas engines?

I looked at a 3.0 Powerstroke, but it made very little financial sense and that's driving 20+k miles a year not including DEF or maintenance. Last I read rumors were Ford was phasing this engine out, so it will have had a short production run.

I've had a few F150s, most recent being a 2011 that I got rid of in 2018. I just don't see enough change in the interior to make me go Ford again for a while. Transmission problems and engine problems with the once proven 5.0 made me recently swap from my Tundra to a Ram 2500 with the 6.4 and 8 speed transmission.

I've got 46k on it and have no clue as to what they use in the 6.7 for gears. The tow rating is a little over 10k on this truck.

I will say that this is with the factory 20's on it, when I put my 35" mud grips on the mileage drops to 22 but the speedometer is also 7% slow.

I was going to have it deleted at 60k (warranty expires) but now that seems to be a dream with the EPA cracking down, nobody will write me a tune for it anymore. I know of one that was deleted and his mileage is running 28-9 all the time, regen sucks it down bigly.

I'm reading the Ford 3.0 diesel has a timing belt. Is this correct? If so, what's the change interval they call for the timing belt?

I have an 03 Jetta TDI with a timing belt. Supposed to change it every 100,000 miles. VW gave the gas engines during that time a chain but the diesel got stuck with a belt. The manufacturers that put belts on diesel engines that can go 600,000+ miles is some chicken shite engineering. That's alot of money and downtime over the life of the engine spent on changes.

If you're open to it,check out the GM diesels in the half tons. I think they are getting the best reviews out of the big 3.

Is that bad? Seems like it would be lighter.

For a light duty truck, not really. The pros outweigh the cons.

I'm seeing a lot of cons on this one.

Timing belt
Newer diesel emission extra BS
Added diesel expense for the price alone of the fuel. The maintenance on diesel always being a bit more expensive than the gasser parts wise and labor.

It only edges the 5.0 out by 40 ft lbs of torque but the 5.0 has nearly twice the horsepower. Yes the diesel may get a few more mpgs but those savings go out the window when you factor the price of fuel alone.

I like diesels, own a couple diesel tractors and a diesel car. Not trying to shite on diesel here.

This setup just doesn't seem worth it to me

ETA to show how you're not saving money on fuel.

Gas station by my house is selling regular unleaded right now for $1.81 gallon. If the 5.0 gas engine gets 23 mpg, that costs you 78 cents per a mile.

The diesel at the same station costs you $2.32 per gallon right now. If the 3.0 diesel engine get 30 mpg, that costs you 77 cents per a mile, dividing the mpg by the price per a gallon. Here again, I'm not even factoring in the added costs to owning a diesel vs gas and the price of DEF fluid used.

I also see you were referencing the GM diesel having aluminum blocks. I'd rather have the graphite iron block the Ford diesel is using in a diesel application

I agree that there are things that could be better. A timing belt doesnt bother me nor do the current emissions equipment. The fuel economy should be better than it is. My 3/4 ton cummins can be stretched to 25mpg if I try and has infinitely more capability than this engine. I think the manufacturers should focus on fuel economy. That engine should be a 2 liter IMO. I think we hang up "diesels must pull more" when the price of this truck puts you into low trim 3/4 ton pricing. Every half ton diesel so far (5.0 cummins and 3.6 ecodiesel) has been a flop for that reason. Either make it big and capable or small and efficient. Try too hard to compromise and you end up with poo.
