I would highly recommend it. It's not the end all be all but it's my favorite summer beach bait.
When the trout are grouped up in schools and on feeding frenzies they will hit just about anything. When they are spread out and you are havig to work for them I prefer hard baits with more action like the mirrodine. I have on more than one occasion stood in the surf and caught a limit or nice bag of fish with this bait while watching dudes standing next to me striking out with plain soft plastics.
