Yea thats one problem with them is the teeth...bird catchers need some serious teeth...and that doesnt mix well with your hand.

When is the one in BR and what is the name of that one?

When I used to feed all of mine people would come by and we would sit around drinking and feeding everything from pinky mice to adult rats.

It's Repticon, and it's actually at the Lamar Dixon Center just outside of Baton Rouge on Sept. 13-14.

I couldn't watch that either!

This thread has completely freaked me out. I can't think of a more stressful environment than a reptile show!

Anyway, congrats on your purchase

That thing is beautiful. I don't miss my big snake phase of long ago. I couldn't get used to sticking my hand in there wondering if I was gonna get nipped. I still enjoy small snakes though and have been meaning to get one.

Great looking GTP. Awesome display snakes. I'm actually looking at getting a pair of amazon tree boas myself. I'm also interested in a carpet python. I like the irian jaya jags.

I'm no snake expert, but I though that poisonous snakes had vertical slit pupils and non-poisonous had round pupils. Your python has vertical pupils and huge fangs. What's up with that?

BTW, I'm not a snake lover, but it is pretty (for a snake).

That's just some of the misinformation that gets spread around about snakes.

If we were only talking about North American snakes, that old saying would be closer to true, although coral snakes don't have vertical pupils.

beatutiful snake! Just have to ask, how often do they bite you? Seems like a couple of times with those teeth and i would be tempted to decapitate his arse.

That's a beautiful snake man. When i was a kid, we had garters off an on, started when my dad went to the snake farm in Laplace and brought one home. Had a few over the years. I have an uncle who has always had various exotic animals, usually snakes and monkeys. But his snakes are usually wild caught and mean as hell. Went snake hunting with him once and caught some big water snake and a corn snake. That water snake bit the frick out of me, and I haven't had on since. Though a small garter may be good for the kids.

He's not going to bite me at all, because he has already made it apparent that he isn't going to unwrap from that perch unless he damn sure wants to. I set up the tank yesterday, and he doesn't care if my hands are moving around in the tank though. Threw a mouse in yesterday and he didn't budge from his perch. But this morning the mouse was gone. I'm resigned to the fact that he will be a dsiplay-only snake. Already working on getting the Jungle Jag Carpet Python, but there aren't exactly a lot around to choose from. Hoping the one I saw in Lafayette is still available.
Aside from my Pygmy Rattler, which is obviously display-only too, I haven't kept snakes in a long time. Getting this one has me excited about them again though. I cut a deal with the wife, so I'll release the rattler and get the Jungle Jag to play with.
