Fly fishing set up

Helping my mother in law clean out an old shed and found a fly rod and reel. I did a little research and it looks like it's a Eagle Claw mc300 fiberglass rod. Apparently this was a pretty cheap set up but should be good for me to learn on.
I was hoping I could get some advice on line and lures? I found a box with a couple accardo bugs from baton rouge in it and some other various flys. I wanted to use it to bass fish if it could be set up for that.
Thanks for any help.

You have 7 wt line on it according to the sticker which means you should be able to throw most bass flies.
However that line looks like it will have a lot of memory in it and might crack when casting. You may need to look at replacing it.
You’ll probably need to add ta leader to it as well.
As to flies, grasshopper flies deer hair poppers, wooly worms, etc.

Definitely need new line. Buy a 7wt wf floating line. Lots of good options on Amazon. For a leader, make it simple. 5’ 30lb mono to 3’ 12lb mono. Use a triple surgeon knot to connect the two. Very easy.
Where are you located? No wake in Metairie has an awesome selection of flies. Otherwise, look at finatics website. They are out of Houma and have local fly tiers with some great bass bugs. Get a couple poppers size 4 to 2/0. And some simple weighted sub surface flies. Finatics sells one called the slam-r. Guaranteed to catch fish.

I live in Hammond but I have been by No Wake before. This was before I found this rod and I was only asking about a beginner combo and lessons. I figure I can watch some youtube videos and get it set up.

Might be the most fun fishing you’ll ever have.
