Went out to the Tchefuncte yesterday in the yak. Really wanted to catch some Sac a lait, but just wanted to test out the new depth finder. Caught zero sacs. Tried casting worm under cork on the Lilly pads, got nothing. Caught a few small bream, but even they weren’t plentiful. Picked up a small Kentucky bass and then a keeper largemouth right as I was about to start paddling back just throwing a little mini bomber crank bait in chartreuse and green. Threw him back because I wasn’t going to clean just one fish.

Oh, and I had to buy a new battery. It lasted about 2 hrs. Guess running this new setup is more battery intensive than the old deer feeder battery can handle.

Caught about 30 trout east of Grand Isle. Only 12 keepers. Porpoises are out of control. They are everywhere.

We had a dream trip offshore Wednesday (5 man limit of 50 big Beeliners, an 8# Mangrove and 10 mongo snapper). Sharks are the rest of what would have been a limit of snapper. 50 trout in 3 hours Thursday and the gf and her Dad and I got 30 nice trout Friday. Saturday we tried some new to me areas, the spots were loaded with 13-15” snapper, but only 4 keepers for the two of us. No sharks though, they must know where the big snapper are.

Not sure I’ve ever seen the Gulf so calm so many days in a row. Would have been an awesome time for an overnight trip.

Myself and 3 buddies are headed out on a charter with Bayou Charters Saturday morning out of Hopedale. With the heat warning, the trip will be from about 5AM - 10AM. Hope to get on the reds and maybe some specs.

Took a trip to Lake Borgne to run F250 for a good hour straight after I replaced a cam sensor…. ran some crab lines and caught my first triple tail.Didn’t catch much else.

I'm interested in trying this too, haven't done it in years. Did you catch more than one?
