My kids want to go fishing this weekend. How has the fishing in Lake Pontchartrain been lately? Should I go closer to Lacombe or Slidell, or can I stick to the east side of the Causeway? I will be launching out of the Tchefuncte.

Hasn't really been calm enough to fish out there for me. Water has also not been great from the rain and wind.

I launched at the Tanghipahoa Monday and there were only two other trucks there. So at least on that side of the lake things aren't so hot.

Watch the wind this weekend, looks like it's gonna be rough in the mid morning - afternoon times.

Sorry I can't give a report outside of those items.

Definitely go Slidell. You will still be on the struggle bus but the water temps are rising. If you’re going with kids I’d fish the mouth of Bayou Liberty, tressels, Hospital wall, and sawmill pass. Drop shot with live shrimp.

ETA: Just realized you’re launching out of the Tchefuncte. Slidell is a long boat ride broskii. Just tow your vessel to Island Marina by Eden Isles. The fish haven’t been getting active until mid-late morning anyway. Get to the launch at 8:30-9, lines in the water by the tressels @ 9:30.

With kids if the winds are decent you can try the Causeway (turn arounds) with dead shrimp. Will probably catch some fresh water cats, croaker, and the occasional red. Earlier in the week I saw a good number of Loons along the bridge.

Anyone ever bass fished the Lake Pontchartrain shoreline between the Tangipahoa and Causeway?

The Northshore of the lake was a little dirty this afternoon coming home. You can also try bayou lacombe. It is an easy run from the Tchefuncte with the north wind. Can give the kids a 1/4 oz beetle spin a d cast in the marsh, or soak shrimp.

Where the structure is and the water depth don’t really allow that to be a plentiful option. Wouldn’t advise.
