I grew up fishing only freshwater really but I just got a fiberglass 18’ CC to get more into saltwater. I’ve been seeing everyone is doing really well around Cypermort Point but I’m not exactly sure where to go around there. Any insight would be helpful really, as I intend to make a trip tomorrow.

Higher salinity out at the Pass. Salinity increases near the Point later in the summer. The Bay turns snotty very quickly with thunderstorms in the area. The sunsets are amazing sometimes.

Having any luck? Plenty of redfish to be caught on marsh island. Success on trout is usually further out, but the salinity doesn’t look terrible, so there should be some around.

River is under 10 feet(butte larose) early this year. It will be around 8ft by end of this week. Anything under 10ft will start to see increased salinity around the point esp with a westerly wind. The early salty season happens about 4 years or so where the trout are here in late may/early june. Most times they move in around August because it takes so long due the achaf river to drop. Saltwater has already started moving into vermillion Bay area around the point because of the lower river stage. Ive seen a few pics of big catches already around the rigs last week. They will be around the reefs(if not already) etc soon as long as we get some good winds.

Is there anywhere around The Point to get live bait? We used to do pretty good at Tee Butte on live bait but I’m not sure anymore where to find any now. This was years ago there was a store by the launch that had bait but it’s closed.

Not that I know of. If you want live you usually have to catch it yourself. But I don’t regularly fish out there anymore.

Had a Point regular at the house today who said they are catching trout right off the Point and of course at Marsh Island. But they were getting some monsters at the Point, which is unusual for this time of year.
