Fishing Cypermort Point
Posted by KJFabacher on 5/27/23 at 8:42 am
I grew up fishing only freshwater really but I just got a fiberglass 18’ CC to get more into saltwater. I’ve been seeing everyone is doing really well around Cypermort Point but I’m not exactly sure where to go around there. Any insight would be helpful really, as I intend to make a trip tomorrow.

Anyone been able to hook up on them lately? I was doing pretty well before the close but haven’t caught one since it reopened. I’ve been able to catch my limit on reds pretty quick lately so I’d like to have another species to somewhat reliably target before leaving.

I have a Bayou Classic M#KAB4 which also has the banjo style burner and it’s rated for 210k BTU. It gets a 120 qt pot to a rolling boil just fine. Been using it for 3-4 years now. I’m sure the one you linked will be just fine. I even use it to fry fish because I can get the flame so low. Win-Win in my opinion. Plus it’s just so nice being able to talk next to it on full blast.

You’ll need to check the bigger line at the indoor unit, the indoor coil freezes first and sometimes takes a very long time to see ice outside. Turn the system to “Off” and fan to “On”. That should make it start on defrosting the indoor coil if that is the issue.

I have the same one and even if it happens to take longer (which I doubt) it’s worth it to me to be able to hold a conversation next to it without yelling.

You have an idea of where I could find a map of the canals all named online? iPhone maps and Google Maps only have a couple of them named.

I’ve actually fished Rollover Lake through that inlet you’re talking about in Flat Late. You aren’t kidding about it getting rough there. I think because of how fast it gets shallow in that little inlet the waves get brutal just right there in front of it. Makes leaving very “exciting” lol

Sure enough, East end closes from Dec 1st to March 1st. I also just read that the East end is mostly freshwater. Had no clue about that, I’m mostly planning to target Redfish and Flounder anyway.
Rockefeller East End

I’ve launched at Joseph’s Harbor before and know the basic spots like LSU, Cement, and Mud Hole but I’ve never ventured out to the east end. Thinking about giving it a try this weekend, anything I should know about? Or does anyone have some insight about potential spots they’re willing to share?
