On 2 separate occasions this weekend we had boats pull within casting distance to us.

Pulled up to the rig, started catching, and our anchor lets loose and we drift about 25 ft back (trolling motor still in the water), as soon as we start to drift this a-hole starts up his motor drives to within 25 feet of us, and throws(literally) his anchor in. fish turn off and the spot is dead. if there would not have been a woman and a kid, some choice words would have been said.

At the end of the day we were driving in and saw some birds diving, so we stopped upwind, put the trolling motor down, and quietly moved towards the fish. This other a-hole comes in on step, and stops IN the birds, I mean directly in them!! The guys on the boat looked like they had just gotten out of a Orvis photo shoot. we are just getting in casting distance when this happens. By this time I blow a gasket. I Run out of curse words in my vocabulary, and that is hard to do. One person made one cast in that boat, the boat never stopped, and they leave, but not before the driver yelled " your not going to catch anything anyway.. This just blew my mind. They get back on step and go to another group of birds. Well i had had enough by then. I started up and drove directly through though their birds wide arse open.

I may have been a little out of line, but I can only take so much of these dumbasses in only day.

(Rant over)

Yeah i hate that too.

While you did experience bad fisherman etiquette, you are the more experienced sportsman that chose to fish on Fathers day Sunday. Not only are you partially to blame for being there, you broke the law and etiquette yourself when you drove through the wildlife.

Anyway, better days will be ahead. Put it behind you.

It sounds like you were fishing w my FIL. Dude is known for doing stupid shite and asks, "wonder why they stopped biting?" Some people are just plain stupid.

There was a time when I trout fished regularly in GI and Fourchon and I would keep an old rod and reel handy that had at least a 1 oz jig head on it. If you got that close, then said jig head would appear from the sky in your boat. Rarely said a word prior to the cast, but there were typically some after.

Glad I dont trout fish much anymore.

Grand isle oyster reefs are the worst.

Fishing on weekends is horrible. I hate it and I do everything I can to avoid it.

always the same type of a-hole!

decked out in Columbia gear, face mask sun thing, YETI hat, etc..

Had two guys pull up 50yds down the bank I was trolling and casting for reds and do the same. I was pissed.

Threw the biggest wake possible passing 25ft from them and got back in front of them.

Yeah, at least if you are going to jump in the birds im trying to fish, actually fish them, the dude didnt even stop the boat. I think everyone in the boat was embarrassed of the driver and didn't want anything to do with fishing right there. One guy made one cast.....

I fished all day yesterday and didn't see a single boat. That's the beauty of poling skiffs.

Had 2 giudes in Leeville get way too close on Sunday. Was kinda shocked a guide would come in and try to fit in off a small point and/or island. I figured if anyone knew better it was a guide.

The first time it was funny though. We're fishing in this very small island and another boat watches us catch a few and pulls up behind it. We were going to circle the whole thing but we stayed where we were at picking at them. He was anchored but had his trolling motor on and did a full circle before he cut his trolling motor off. Then we see a charter captain edge up and thought "you gotta be kidding". You're going to try to fit in as the 3rd boat? The other boat sees he coming and pulls anchor and completely cuts him off from the point next to us. We thought it was funny but we had had enough and went to another spot. That captain trolled a big circle around the island and anchored right where we left. Hilarious

happened to me this weekend in Delacroix, found a 50 yd stretch of grass where the reds and bass were thick, I was on it at 8 am and the only boat in sight. Some guy comes in 40 yards down the bank and see's us catching fish and decides to troll in on the front point of the grass line. (fine, stay on the front side). But then he decided to come right down the line putting his boat within a boat length of me. I'm fuming and ready to pop off at this moment. Guy says something like "ya'll catchin em huh?" I just shook my head and didn't say a word. He went around my boat and continued to cast. Then his trolling motor breaks and he floats right into the grass mat. I troll by and say a few choice words and he kinda looks up then puts his head down. I gave up and went find something else.

Careful here...change fella to a-hole and you're there.

agreed, I fish out of a bass boat and am nothing but courteous. In my experience it's (usually) people in bay boats that will ride around and potlick the hell out of you...assholes come in all shapes and sizes.

few of my favorite things to tell people...

"you brought breakfast for us?"
or
How much did it cost?
they usually say something like "what?"
response: "the lake, since you bought it"
