It wasn't the T100 from my last thread. Just moved to Indiana so my search has been tough due to rust. Went on a Facebook a few days ago, and happened to find a 2003 Silverado 2500HD with the 6.0L Vortec.

The frame has surface rust, but nothing like the others I've seen up here. The rockers as well. I predict they will need to be replaced in 2-3 years time, but this puppy has only 82,000 miles. The think I've learned with these model trucks ('99-'07), the dash clusters like to go out (had a '99 Z71). RPM gauge is shot and so is the trans. temp gauge. drove it all the way home, 1 hour out of 3.5 with 240 reading on the gauge. gambled that it was the cluster. shot the pan with an infrared sensor when i got home, and it read 130-140.

thanks for all the help guys. might just send the cluster in to this guy on ebay. he seems to have a lot of reviews.

I had an '01 just like that. It spent the majority of it's time pulling a skid steer or a tool trailer. Sold it with 287k miles and it was still as solid as the day I bought it. The 6.0 is a beast and will run forever. But, yes I did have to have the cluster repaired a couple of times. Other than that, change oil and replace tires, and it'll keep on going.

Looks good. 2WD though? Just don't try to pull your boat out during a small lake hurricane.

My first new truck was an 03 GMC Sierra. My dad still drives it to this day with just over 315k miles. Those year model GMs were solid as a rock in my experience. Yours looks to be in great condition, congrats!

says 4x4 on the side. This year model has the push buttons on the dash to engage the 4x4.

Funny that you mention this, they just had a super cell T-storm very early, yesterday At Lake Martin In Alexander City, AL.
Luckily, the storm moved in very early in the morning, and nobody was out on the lake yet. 40 mph sustained straight line winds, with a peak blast of over 80 MPH, It snapped trees for miles. I live 30 miles north of there, and just got my power and internet back on, 30 minutes ago.
I have heard, that it totally destroyed the campground at Wind Creek State Park and lots of campers and RVS, trees down everywhere.
There are several marinas near there, and I imagine quite a bit of damage. In Alexander City, the hail was piled up like snow. I've seen photos of that.

Lucky that it happened before people were out on the lake. There would have been some drownings.

Here is a link to a story about a similar microburst that occurred at Huntsville, Al., on a narrow part of the river. They tried to get the boat to a safe place, but they didn't make it. LINK

Congrats on the Truck OP, that'll probably be a good one for you.

Those seats are really comfortable.

I had an 04 with a bum instrument cluster, bought a new one from Rock Auto and replaced it in literally minutes.

what'd you do about the mileage reading?

When I ordered, they requested current mileage and there is a form you fill out to self certify the mileage was accurate at the time you switched them out.

Either don’t drive the truck after you order or order it with more miles than you currently have so you can “true” it up.

Unless it has been abused that thing will get 300K plus.

My 99 Tahoe cluster came and went....very frustrating....but the damned thing had 340K on it when I sold it and that guy has been driving it nearly daily for 2 years more! It'd use a quart of oil if I waited until 5000 plus to change it but it would crank and run everytime and never had anything done to it. And I abused it....towed boats that were too big for it, 4 wheeled it to hunt out of...it just kept going. I am looking for a low mileage suburban 2500 with barn doors and when I find it I don't care how many miles it has I am buying it and will replace everything in it for less than a 10 year old truck.....

If you do look out for that dude in the ridgeline...he'll likely be sunk but still on the ramp....

Also means it can be flat towed behind a motorhome without doing anything other than putting the xfer case in neutral and hooking it up!
