I think if I get a girl in the future I'm gonna name her something girly like "Sally".

Are they able to handle the bigger ducks and maybe even a goose? What about cripples? I'm very intrigued by these and also the American Water Spaniel, which is similar. Currently have a small lab, and she works out fine, but she'll need to be replaced someday.

Lucy

I just lost my little fiece (spl?)Lucy this morning. She was thirteen years old and had died in her sleep. I shouldn't get so attached to my dogs.

I had never heard of a Boykin, interesting.

A feist? Those are great dogs. Another breed that I'd like to own. Sorry to hear about your loss man. Old dogs are one of only 3 things in this world worth a dime.

I knew boykins were good dogs, but all these rave reviews have gotten me excited. I was a little nervous about getting a dog but am pretty stoked now. Thanks for all the input everybody.

why would you not just get a Springa Spaniel ?

I had a Springer and they are very versatile, but not as versatile as my Deutsch Drahthaar.
I read about people that the boykin but good god the people in South Carolina kill me when they start blathering about than damn breed they are nice dogs but you have dumbasses that would say they can ret better than a lab and hunt quail like and english pointer. sorry that is not happening ever. Keep us up on the progress of you pup.
My suggestion is Bastard out of carolina or how about Caroline This is fitting Carolina (ship), also known as Caroline, a merchant ship that tried to break though a United States Navy blockade of Galveston, Texas, during the American Civil War
