Fellow OB'ers, what can I do to stop getting delayed on background checks?

I've haven't purchased many new guns from dealers in my life so I've only ever done 2 background checks. 1st one was 9 years ago. I got delayed but after the waiting period I picked up my gun with no issues. Fast forward to today. I went to get my new M&P Shield that I ordered 1.5 weeks ago and was again delayed.
What gives? I have no felonies. Only one misdemeanor for 1st offense DWI and that was there on my 1st one 9 years ago.
So why the delays? Is there anything I can do to stop getting delayed?
I'll hang up and listen.

Not that I know of. My father was an NOPD Officer, as was my Mom's Brother.
There aren't many other people in this area with my last name.

I feel your pain. I've had trouble with it in the past, but it seems to have cleared up.

You can get a pin number that will speed things up. Last I k ow it took like 6 months to get.

CCL - find dealers that are following the ATF waiver, if issued after 5/9/15 you will have to fill out 4473 but no NICS is required

Used to get delayed every time. Get a concealed carry permit. Or whatever they are called in your area.

Does having a CCL bypass a background check?
Side note: Have a fellow range officer and coworker giving the class in Covington if anyone on the Northshore needs to take a class. He's got room for more in this upcoming class.

Yes at most dealers, not sure why some still do it when it has been waived by the ATF

But on a serious note, the CCL comment may be good advice. I've made 3-4 purchases via a vendor since aquiring my CCL and they come back instantly. I have a very common name also. So much so, I had a class at LSU with a guy with the same first and last name as me.

A buddy of mine was delayed for his shotgun. I have never had a delay.
The last gun I bought, I had my CC. I filled out the form, they did their part on the form, no call, gave them the money and I was out. 10 minutes in and out.
