What’s y’alls favorite reel, rod (length and action), and line for inshore fishing? Just general inshore fishing- not targeting bull reds.

Jig fishing, for what? When I think jigs it’s either bass or reds, a medium/heavy baitcaster with at least 50# braid and swinging a hammer. Be more specific

He's talking about bouncing soft plastics off the bottom for flounder/trout/reds

7'6" medium action fast tip spinning rod with 2500 spinning reel. 10lb mono. 3/8 oz. Jig head with a chartreuse curly tail grub.

If that’s the case I’ll go a 2500/3000 series spinning with 30# braid, a 15# mono leader on a medium fast 7 footer

My favorite fishing for trout.

I always seem to grab my abu orra on a 6'10" falcon - 30lb powerpro w/mono leader & matrix (shrimp creole more often than not) for jig fishing.

If I’m jigging off the bottom all day, I prefer a shorter rod, as it’s easier to manipulate all day long. I usually bring 2 with me, one with a 1/4 oz jighead and another with 3/8 oz, matrix Shad on both.

6’6” Duce Element Medium/Fast with Chronarch G XG
6’6” Cajun Savannah MH/Fast Chronarch G XG

I like the fast reel to pick up the slack and get the bait in quicker.

If I plan on using a jig head and swimming it rather than jigging it off the bottom, then I’ll move up to a 7’-7’3 rod.

Edit: I'll add that I use 30b Power Pro super slick with a 15b Seagur Flouro leader. Usually make my leader to where it falls between the line guide and the first eye of the rod, as the knot seems to fly through better IMO.

I used to go lighter than 30lb PP, but it tends to dig when you hook on a red, and it would drive me insane.

Yep, 6’6” rod with you fav bait cast real.
Use the lightest power pro/braid you feel comfortable casting with a 2’ 20-40# fluorocarbonleader TIED on with a surgeons knot.

6'6" medium action rod and 13 fishing concept C reel. 20 pound braid with 5' 15 pound fluoro leader. Great for trout but that reel has enough drag for something bigger. Caught a 43" black drum on that setup.
