Starting to conceptually plan for a 2024 mule deer hunt with my 13 year old son. Does anyone have any solid recommendations on outfitters. I am interested in Oklahoma or Kansas as an option for a shorter drive, but open to all recommendations.

Those two states are probably the least outfitted mule deer states. If you are trying to stay close, Texas is your best bet with New Mexico next. Your budget is the key for mule deer. You gotta pay to play unless you draw a tag these days.

Rifle. Public land guided would be preferred.

I’ve been emailing places in Texas and NM about Mule deer hunts. Many places are booked out for trophy until 2025 and it’s starts around 6k. Management mule deer hunts are a little cheaper and have more availability from what I’ve seen. Dream hunt for me is to hunt west Texas mule deer. Hope you find something.

I’ve hunted them all over the country and Montana is definitely one of the easiest states to get a decent tag. Also there a lots of outfitters up there. Texas has over the counter tags but like it’s already been said, limited outfitters that are booked for years.

New Mexico is your best bet i think. Do you have to go guided?
