Thanks to BP for making this happen for some family members. I definatley owe him one for making this happen for some of my relatives.

BP, if they don't get you set up with a Kansas whitetail hunt (which they'd damn sure better) - i'll make sure to get you a hunt through some other friends in the SE part of the state.

Longbeard, you are more than welcome. I am enjoying the company of some good salt of the earth guys. And from what I hear I got to facilitate a young mans first big game kill. Pics to follow.

DT we came in fourth then third got disqualified so we made 3 rd. This year there are some new rules and we plan on coming in second if the same big money group is entered.

Hope y'all get some more this weekend.

Do you have to buy a license to hunt pigs in Texas?

You absolutely need a hunting license to hunt pigs in Texas

from TPWD:
quote:

Exotic Animals and Fowl

Exotic animal refers to grass-eating or plant-eating, single-hoofed or cloven-hoofed mammals that are not indigenous or native to Texas and are known as ungulates, including animals from the deer and antelope families that landowners have introduced into this state. Includes, but is not limited to feral hog, Aoudad sheep, Axis deer, Elk, Sika deer, Fallow deer, Blackbuck antelope, Nilgai antelope, and Russian boar. Exotic fowl refers to any avian species that is not indigenous to this state, including ratites (emu, ostrich, rhea, cassowary, etc.).

There are no state bag or possession limits or closed seasons on exotic animals or fowl on private property. It is against the law to:

•Hunt an exotic without a valid hunting license.

ETA:
Nevermind, also saw this:
quote:

Exceptions: a hunting license is not required to hunt the following:

•Depredating feral hogs, if a landowner (resident or non-resident) or landowner's agent or lessee is taking feral hogs causing depredation on the landowner's land.

come kill'em all

Brother, trust me a license is not required when hunting is done on a landowners property who has explicitly asked you to provide depredation control. If you don't believe me call Austin.

I see ya found the loop hole when I was typing. Moving along. Lol.

When I get back to Texas I will be more than happy to come help you kill hogs. My cousin too he loves killing hogs, I love turning them into sausage.

Looks like junior missed a little to the right, but got the job done.

It must be the way my phone is showing the picture, but the bottom pic looks like a calf head on a hog body.

Grandfather and grandson were hunting together and were both zeroed in on two pigs with a plan the shoot on grandpas count of 3. Right as he said three his pig moved he shot missing the pig, and the grandson jumped at the sound causing his shot to be WAY back considering he was aiming at the head. He double kidney shot the lil porker. About a 50 lb shoat.

Another in the party missed a head shot at 80 yrds last night from a different stand.

No kills this am

Guys are out again.

The lease has been getting pretty heavy pressure with day and night hunting since Thursday. I went ahead and set the trap for them yesterday and maybe we can pull a pig there.

They did not see anything last night so hopefully they are able to get on the pigs this am.

Well everyone on the trip had and took shots at pigs. Unfortunately, those suckers are tough and the boys only left with two pigs. Everyone including myself had a blast. It was really great getting meet some new folks, share some stories, share some whisky, and get outdoors and away from work.
