Protection and hearing aren’t an either / or proposition with modern electronic earplugs. One can have both.

Baws would rather spend money on FirstLite.

Or Sitka lol. I completely get that muffs aren't exactly comfortable or really practical on any kind of hunt. However, they are the cheapest alternative to getting protection while being able to communicate. Outside of that, there is digitals, which the good ones are over $1K. I have been wearing digitals now for probably 20 years and on my third set. They are well worth the money if you don't want to be fricking deaf and I already have tinnitus. But there are very few guys that are gonna spend that kind of money on ear plugs. They would rather be shooting a high end shotgun and wearing over priced camo and then bitch about not being able to hear because regular foam plugs suck.
