As a North LA./ South Ark. hunter this really sucks to see... Apparently the birds beat the rain here, and just passed right on through... I can't even believe that the first split here was better than the second (so far). That's counter to every other season up here.

I finally killed some today. Fog and dark night helped. The other blind on open water kill only a hand full (3 men hunting). I was in the fields and if I could have hit the broad side of the barn I would have been out of the blind by 7:30

There wasn't enough water to hold the calendar ducks for very long once the pressure began. The coast hunters love drought years like this and I'm sure most of them had banner first splits if they had food in their marsh, I know my buddy's club in Cameron has murdered them so far. Talked to some guys at Dave's Bayou who killed a limit of teal this morning, after nothing yesterday. I know Potluck had at least a couple of really good days at the beginning of the season. Haven't talked to the guys I know in the Woodlands but BossFloss hunts there and posts here regularly. We need some snow up north to move mallards southwards. This time last year snow cover was deep across the upper midwest.
