UPDATED: SHE WON!!!! Ducks Unlimited/Delta Waterfowl

She REALLY didn't want to write this paper -- I told her she had to help us help her for college (going out of state). She wrote a 1500 word essay in one day and just found out she was one of four winners in our Parish.
THANK YOU to everyone here!!!
My daughter is writing a compare/contrast paper for a scholarship opportunity -- she is using google and their information for information BUT thought that stories/thoughts of others interactions with the programs could help.
HOWEVER, I didn't feel the need to introduce her to TD.com.
So anyone have good/bad thoughts/experiences on either?
Thanks.

1st thing is that they are not competing organizations
DW is more on the research side of waterfowl
DU puts up nets and heats ponds to hold ducks up north

I know DU USED to have some pretty interesting banquets....Before the wives started attending.

Dr. Frank Rohwer from LSU RNR is the president and chief biologist at DW. He's a really nice guy, and I had a class with him while I was there.
Tell her to try and get in touch with him
DW's (and Rohwer's focus) has always been improving breeding habitat and young survival to produce higher total numbers. I believe DU's focus is increasing migratory food supplies, which sucks for us.
Eta: LSU RNR has a lot of scholarships available. I was top stupid to ever get one, but they have plenty

They used to be banned from the banquets. Girl in Alex i went to high skrool with dad brought her one time and they told him she couldn't enter. Whole lot of pissed off ensued

DW is about trying to identify programs that increase broad survival. Programs like predator management, Hen Houses, and grass around the ponds on the breading grounds.
DU is about Habitat. They have so many programs Grasslands, private and public partnerships. Mostly focus on creating and improving habitat

Delta making a big push in the past couple years for more access to public land for duck hunting. More partnerships for public land improvements like their very successful Giant-Sylvania Eraticating Weevil project.
DU partners with some public land resources for some big $ habitat projects, but also has lots of money tied to private land improvements. Or land that isn’t public ally accessible. Still good for ducks, just not so much the average Duck hunter.
Delta Waterfowl was founded in 1911. And is the oldest duck organization. DU a couple decades later, 1937
Delta mission:To produce ducks and secure the future of waterfowl hunting.
DU mission: conserves, restores, and manages wetlands and associated habitats for North America's waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people.
I have some side by side comparison charts on other issues i can get to you.
Both very good organizations with some very different means and methods. I volunteered for both organizations 15 years ago, but went totally to Delta in about 2007, once i started doing my own research.
Lots of info on the websites. And if you email them they will send you even more info regarding programs and statistics.

Wives don't belong at the "camp", either.

Well written synopsis Starfox. I used to lean slightly anti-DU just because I disliked the fact that I was paying dues to an organization that was helping private landowners create habitat that I would never get to see, much less hunt on. However I have come to realize any habitat created in this day and age is beneficial to ducks in the grand scheme of things.
