Yea you're gonna have a bad time. The best is a plowed field on both sides. Levee mowed down real short with a sunk blind
Well, that's essentially what we do have. How is a plowed field with no water a good thing? And how would a layout blind work in the middle of a dirt field? They would stick out like a sore thumb.
In this particular field, the levees have been plowed down almost level with the field, maybe 6" above the field level. It rises up into a slight mound where the 6 man blind is that is maybe 12" above field level with short grass around it and we brush it with long levee grass around the edge so that it drapes over the middle of the blind to try and cover the big black hole.

Plowed with stubble still mixed in. One lick with a disk. Not a seedbed. My bad.
The levees will need grass on it the whole way.
I've hunted the situation you are in and didn't kill shite

It's frustrating for sure with so many specks in the area. We are considering going sit in the middle of the field in lawn chairs with decoys about 50 yards from us and giving it a shot. Couldnt be any worse than right now with 3 scratch hunts in a row.

This. Hard to conceal an above ground blind in a rice field. They might not flare but it probably looks just unnatural enough for them to shy away from it.

Hwy 92. Is your cousin the suspect farmer or the head of the lease?

Had the same thing happen yesterday. At least 6 times.I told my FIL we needed more brush, but hes one of those guys that knows everything about everything. So at the end of the day, 0 ducks.

There is no such thing as too much brush.

Next time I get invitied, Im bringing more. Its a sunkin blind in the middle of a rice field. The way I see it, if you can see down into the blind just from standing on the ground, you are way to exposed. But he knows everything...

That or a layout in the middle of the field
I ordered a northern flight layout blind from Cabelas yesterday for 100 bucks! Couldn't pass it up. We're going to try and setup up in some recently cut second crop rice fields and see if we can't get a few specks to work.

I've got that one on sale for same price. And two of the cabelas ultimates. I prefer the ultimate. It's a little higher profile but so much more comfortable. I'll use the other one if the brush isn't as tall

Yeah we have a plowed rice field that the specks have been landing in, so we dug holes in the middle of the field and layed down in them with grass over us, but I think we were spotted.
I think these mobile layouts will work better in the rice fields because of all the natural stubble and grass. I'm anxious to try it out.

We are hunting geese right now in an 80 acre plowed dry bean field with plowed levees in a 6 man pit blind right smack dab in the middle of both cuts and the blind is the only thing with grass around it.
How is the top of your blind covered? I would get rid of the grass around the pit. I wuld also try moving away from the pit. Cover it up and move to a spot away from it. It'll be harder to hide, but I did that exact same thing for years.

The top of the blind isnt covered at all. We have been having to lay our blind bags around the perimeter and then layer long levee grass over the top and make them droop over the top of the blind.

Then we would be a giant black hole full of people.

Not sure where we would move. Layout blinds in the middle arent an option because it is solid dirt/mud. Im open to ideas because I have never hunted such a poor situation before and we are all pretty fed up with it.

Mud your blinds super good and use a shite ton of decoys. Pack them around your blinds.
