So which is better again?

I agree with the guy that said duck commander woodie. Best one out there. The haydel woodie sucks.

I have the DR-85 and I find that the welcome and comeback calls are too 'high pitched' and loud IMO. But maybe that's cause I suck. When I throw in some 'raspiness' into it, it sounds awesome IMO and it's very easy to call. Agreed.

Haydel whistle is good.

Have yet to find a good bluewing teal call.

I am in the market for the RnT daisy cutter acrylic.

I have 3 of them. 2 of them go back to when they formed the reed out of an Ace comb. Yeh, I'm old.

I still have one that Uncle Men made, Rozo cane & Ace comb. I have somewhere around 15-20. Everytime they tried a new wood, I would get one to try-out. Family benifits are SWEET!

W-81. Granted I've never tried the others. Should I be? Still stand by the duck commander one.

From my experience the WW-90 aka woodduck whine is the best woodduck call out there.

I personally have had over a dozen situations while hunting flooded timber where woodducks would land back behind me or through the trees from where I was standing. You can hit the WW-90 two or three times and if you are still the bastard will swim over to were your standing. I had it happen last season and the little Frick decided to call back. Only problem he had already swam up from behind me within a foot of the cypress tree I was up against. I almost had a stroke when he whined back.
I've had the best luck with it out of all three haydel's and the DC. Now don't ever waste your money on the Haydel compensator, It's horrible. I think highly enough of the WW-90 I recommend it to everyone looking for a call for Squealers.

For some reason this really made me laugh. You're absolutely right though...as far as birds that come out of nowhere and are immediately on top of you, wood ducks are right there when you're in timber/woods. Right up there with teal in terms of 'surpriseability'

Thanks for the recommendation. Will definitely have to try that one.

Calling is just like going to a bar. Some nights making a scene works, sometimes sitting quiet at the bar works. You just have to learn to mix it up.

Just like whores, you can usually tell a duck that wants to come in to your spread real quick when you hit the call. If they like it and respond, keep doing what got em to commit till you shoot.

I absolutely LOVE the duck commander bluewing hen call. My brother also has alot of success with the haydel bluewing call. They actually sound really good when used simultaneously.

As far as the calls on my lanyard, this is what I have...

1. Haydel Red Leg Mallard (If I really need to wail on a call)
2. Haydel Dirty Rice Mallard (a little more raspy...but not good in close)
3. Whistle (You really need to learn to master this...It's so versatile, you can use it for greenwings, pintails, wigeon, mallard drakes and gadwalls)
4. Duck Commander Bluewing Teal Call (Love It)
5. Duck Commander Woodie Call (best one out there)
6. Haydel Carbon Quacker (this is relatively new, but it's great for those long range hail calls)

Calls on my christmas list?

1. Duck commander Duck Picker
2. Duck Commander Cut Down Wood
3. Duck commander gadwall call

Advice:

Practice in your truck...don't bother with a CD to learn...those guys are calling like they're in a contest. Blow from your diaphragm. Start with developing a good quack, and then work your way up to practicing a hail call.

Quacking calls aside, I would learn to master the "easier to blow" calls...like the whistle, the woodie call and the bluewing hen call.
