I have three kids, one born at 31 weeks with a little trouble. One born term needing thoracic surgery at one day old. Both had really good outcomes. I have been around alot of healthcare in my life. The care delivered to my children in both instances was amazing.

I will keep you in my thoughts. Being a Dad is a great thing. I am certain you and your son will be home and happy and healthy before you know it!

Does anyone know what hospital Slick is at? Just curious.

will be praying for y'all. Nothing rips at your heart like your child being sick. My son was born early and spent three days on oxygen, seemed like three months.

Slickback,

I pray for you now and will continue to do so. Unfortunatley I have been in your shoes. Life in the NICU is TOUGH, so brace yourself for it. If you haven't heard life there is one step forwards and two steps back. You will have days that will rock you to your breaking point. Hang in there and realize that being tough is great and all but no one can get through alone, use your family, freinds and church to get through.

As far as the vent goes 15 breaths per minute is EXCELLENT! If your son continues at that level he will likely be off the vent in a few days or less.

Lastly, if you have questions, we went through and unberable trial in the NICU and i don't want to make everyone read it, but I would like to help you and your wife if I can, please e-mail me if you would like, my e-mail is drjeff at lafamilyeyecare dot com. I know it sounds odd for a stranger to reach out but if you have questions or anything for that matter Please e-mail me.

Good luck and God Bless....

Yes I am, but it didn't help me any with what Slick is going through. Education doesn't buy you points with the man upstairs in these cases.

Thanks, I didn't mean my reply to come across as an ill worded one.

Don't know about the smartest around here, I have done some pretty stupid things in my day. In fact tried to run my generator today to finish putting a shooting house together on the lease and put water in it instead of gas. They don't work too well when you do that!

So true, but it can sometimes ease the fear of the unknown. Some things are just not explainable even by the most learned person though.

He had another good night. He's been on a cooling blanket (72 hours), and they'll start warming him up tonight.

His blood pressure is stabilizing and they are slowly weaning him off the dopamine. Hopefully he'll be off of it by this evening.

Thanks for the prayers. Keep them up, they're working.
