I wanted to share this with you because I have been in your shoes and hearing that things will, and can, be alright really helped me make it.
My daughter was born at 32 weeks, she weighed 3 lbs and 10 oz when she was born. The way your son was wisked away was a mirror of my experience. She spent a little over 3 weeks in the NICU. It was one of, if not the hardest thing I have delt with. I want you to know that the best thing my daughter had going for her at times was that she is a fighter, and we had a lot of people praying for us. She is now a year and a half, health as a horse and isin the 75%tile for height and 25% for weight. She is the joy of my life. Your boy sounds like he is a fighter so I know that in a few weeks you will be taking him home. know that he is in the best place for everyone right now, let the doctors and nurses handle there business and your boy will be home before you know it.Be as strong as you can for your wife and let her know things will be alright because of modern medicne and the great doctors and nurses that are montioring him 24hrs a day.
In addition my wifes cousin had a little girl that was 1 lb 15 oz. she spent just under 3 months in the NICU. Her cousin stayed with us for all three months of her baby being in the hospital, so I got to relive the experence with her. Her baby is now home and as health, and just started crawling.
Take it one day at a time and a year from now it will all be behind you. Be strong, your entire family will be in my prayers. Glad to hear he is getting better.

Thanks man. Good to hear the success stories.
More good news today. They decided to give him a trial run without oxygen this morning and he did great. No more oxygen and no more nose cannula.
He's up to 4 bottles per day, and four feedings from the tube. Hopefully the tube will be gone within the week.
They decided to let my wife attempt to breastfeed. Usually when they don't breastfeed within the first day or two, they won't ever. However, he latched right on and sucked for a long time. That made my wife extremely happy. She's been pumping since he was born, but the emotional aspect and bonding were helpful to her.
Things are looking great on the health side, we just need to keep working and keep praying on the neurological side.

Thats sounds good that he is nursing on his own. When we went through that it seemed like days were weeks and weeks were months. I was never so glad to leave a place.
Still praying

Slick, being off oxygen is such a huge thing. Now just keep Trevor eating and growing I think everything is beginning to fall into place for you all! Answered prayers for sure!

We're definitely on the right track. His homecoming may not be as far off as we had origignally, cautiously estimated.
I'm anxious about his neurological tests on Friday. Somewhat worried since the last one wasn't a huge success.

Quick update:
He took all his bottles yesterday, so they removed the feeding tube. No more tubes on him.
He started to cry a little yesterday, which was nice to hear.
I let him listen to music while I was rocking him yesterday, Merle of course, and he liked it.
