Asking here to hopefully avoid OT type responses, but thanks in advance for any of those I get, anyways.

My dog ate a good portion of one of my leather loafers earlier in the week. Can’t remember which day but let’s say Tuesday.

I obviously monitored his pooping sitch and it’s been fine ever since so no blockage.

However last night ~4-5 days later he threw up a 2 inch strip of leather, presumably from one of the seemed portions of the shoe.

Should i take him to the emergency vet today? As you can see I’ve tried not to overreact to but if at this point I’m a dumbass for not taking him, I’d appreciate y’all making sure I know that.

His appetite, energy levels and pooping have been completely fine ever since initial consumption of the shoe. Last night was first time he’s thrown up as far as I’m aware.

If he is eating and pooping I would not worry about it

Assuming you know there's no way to know for sure I think I'd just watch this one. If he managed to chew this this shoe into several pieces it's resonable to believe he'll either just pass or throw up the rest. Foreign bodies can just sit around in the stomach and be puked up later. If this were my dog I'd take it in if the vomiting increases. The risk you take is if he gets some material into the intestines and it then forms a blockage and backs things up. But again, he's not showing you signs of that so far.

I've never tried dog shoe I'll have to see if they have or at Publix.

On a more serious note next time your dog eats something it shouldn't have force your dog to drink hydrogen peroxide. We will use a big syringe and squirt it down it's throat. That will make the dog throw up whatever was in it's stomach.

Thanks for help guys. At this point I'm comfortable we're past it. He only threw up that once and has consistently pooped throughout the ordeal. Will of course continue to pay attention for a few more days before totally going back to business as usual.

To the one poster - I know what leather is, my concern was that he still felt the need to throw up a certain portion of it.
