low gear for anything under 15 mph IMO. they are built to rev high.

Bought mint 900 a few months ago and wondering same thing. Had a viking before and I ran in low anytime I was in the woods, on ranger have only used low on big hills, seems geared too low to use all the time on moderate trails as engine revs so high

I also recently bought a 900 Ranger. I mostly have just drove it in my neighborhood and surrounding ones. However, I do put in in low gear for like 2-3 minutes or so while driving it mostly because the machine is still in the break in period. But it does seems to be geared down real low. I would think you would only need low if you are in the mud or hauling a big load. On a separate note, the Turf mode is a very nice feature.

800 yes only when pulling something heavy like a tree or pulling a kid in a F150 out of a hole

Use low daily when in deep water driving from the levee to the duck blind. That’s about it.

The dealer advised me to use low gear when you are traveling at low speeds. This keeps the belt from slipping, and wearing it out.

my dad keeps a 700 at his place in the ozarks
it will straight climb up a mountain in low gear

I go back and forth, low on the climbs and high or neutral on the descent
