Does anyone have any experience with Fontainebleau State Park?

I'm considering going there for a camping trip/bachelor party for my brother some time after Thanksgiving. How is the camping out there? What's the closest boat launch? How's the rifle range at Pearl River WMA, or is there another one that might be closer? I've never been, so any info would be helpful. TIA.

Nice Park. I have camped there in a camper. Not sure if that's what you're doing or if you intend to stay in a cabin.

If camping, as with most LA State Parks, there's no sewer hookups. Only 2 or maybe 3 (literally)around the bath house in the newer section have sewer hookups.

Cabins looks nice from the road, but not sure if they got damaged by the storm. The whole park just reopened a week or so ago.

Not sure about boat launches or shooting ranges.

If camping, check out Fairview Riverside in Madisonville too. Same for sewer, but there is a boat launch on the Tch river inside the park.

It may not be open yet. Isaac screwed it up for a while. You may want to go check. I stopped in a few weeks ago and the ranger told me it would be several weeks before any portion may be opened.

The cabins he said were destroyed. The primitive camping will be the first to be opened.

Sherburne is another option. They have a campground and shooting range. I would think it would be hopping with hunting season going...

I think we'll be in tents. My understanding is that the primitive camping opened back up last week.

the park is a great place to camp. Bath houses are nice, water, power hookups. Plenty of room for kids to run around and play. Playground for the little kids. Pond and a lakefront. We setup camp and let the kids take off. So much for them to do. Lots of deer there as well.
