Do you have a chipper? Advice please

Good afternoon,
I have a handful of trees at 4-6" diameter that need to come down. I'm tired of dragging these to the woods out back and tossing them in a pile. I could use some wood chips. I assume over 4" I might have to cut those trunks into 2-3' segments and split 3-4 ways.
DO I sound crazy? Should I just buy some wood chips and stash the trunks in the back until I want a bonfire?

just rent one (one of those big Vermeer tow behinds) when you need one. I have a pile as big as a schoolbus to need to do the same
I will say this…you will never work as hard a day in your life as you will feeding a wood chipper by hand. It is brutal

I was in the same boat when I first moved to my land. Was desperate for a wood chipper. Finally bought one from a friend, used it once, and never used it again - it just takes forever to feed it.
I started just burning the bigger stuff, and the smaller stuff I’d pile up then drop my bush hog onto it and mulch it up.
There’s a wood chipper sitting in my shed for the past few years if you want it. It probably still runs.

Cutting it, splitting it and chipping it will be a lot more work than dragging it around back.

A hydraulic feed chipper is the only way to have it not be more work than it’s worth. I had a gravity feed before and it’s not worth the pain and time for the small amount of mulch you’ll make.
The hydraulic is really only worth it if you have a lot of material to feed it. I’ve probably made a few hundred yards of mulch and even then I’m not sure it maths out but it does improve looks quicker than burning.

Maybe hire someone with a chipper, they can feed those trees whole and be done with the whole mess far faster and safer.
