Holy shite. Dude good luck, that’s a monster load to try and ruck in. Hope you go straight to a base camp and dump 3/4 of that quick.

I can confirm that this works very well. If taken properly altitude sickness is a non-issue.

I did this 4 times. 2 successful hunts. Skunked twice. All great memories though. You will learn a lot and won't regret it.

I am 0-2 right now. Haven't even seen an elk in the woods yet. I'm starting to think the published numbers are bullshite

We will be trying again next year. My new piece of advice is stay away from opportinity units (100% draw rates with no preference points). The humans will far outnumber the elk in the woods.

The 2 kills were in the Wasatch mountains near Evanston, WY. Both spikes. I was skunked in Montana and Meeker, Colorado. At the time, I was told that Meeker had the largest herd of elk in Colorado. On the drive in to Meeker we saw a herd of about 30 cows and several big bulls 200 yds off the road. We probably should have pulled over and filled our tags there, because we saw none while hunting. Like I said, you learn a lot while hunting there. It's not like hunting whitetail.

I survived lol.
We got about 5-6” of snow and down to 10 degrees until he tent accordin to our little thermometer on Sunday.

I’ll give a detailed report tomorrow but unfortunately we didn’t spot an elk in the woods.

Awesome thing is we hiked in to an area where we didn’t see another person. Had three miles of a valley to ourselves.

Buttt maybe thats why we didn’t see any elk. Everyone already know lol. But tons and I mean tons of shite. The snow showed fresh tracks from the day. I’d say about 80% mulie 20% elk. Everything was dead quiet though.

I don’t do well at 6,000. The guys I went with said I would adjust, but I think it just got worse. I spent 6 days of pure misery a couple of years ago. Sucks because I like the idea of mountains. However, my body has a hard time adjusting to elevation, especially flying instead of driving in. And I am supposedly in decent shape
