What black smoke?
you never mentioned all that black smoke...

but then again I guess I should have asked...
that little tid bit of information may have helped a wee bit...

Glad you got it fixed right though...

I'm not sure what it looked like floored, but I only saw it puff smoke when he was putting it on the trailer. Nothing that looked unusual.
Makes perfect sense though. shite can't run without air.
Boost gauge would've instantly identified this problem.

I never saw the black smoke. It was supposedly sputtering and coughing black smoke when my father in law went to pick it up the first time while I was in hospital. That's why he wouldn't drive it.

It has a Boost gauge but I wasn't really looking at that.

Well damn
First thing I would've done was check and recheck every gauge it had. I'm constantly checking gauges any time I drive anything.

It's on the screen with about 6 other gauges all flashing numbers with flames as a background.
I guess I overlooked it.

Might be a good idea to drive it like you stole it for a day to cook the soot out of it.

Ya'll still talking trucks in here?

I made it blow some smoke on the way home.

I'm a paranoid fricker when it come to gauges...it wasn't long after buying it new before my stock truck had Boost and EGT gauges...
now since the over $10k rebuild I'm a damn zombie watching Oil pressure coolant temp boost and EGT...I think if I sold the truck I'd add 10 years to my life

I guess so.

Not read this thread, but looked like a better place to ask than the OT. My truck has 50K miles. Recently, something just doesn't feel right. No lights on of any kind. It's my understanding that "Tune ups" just aren't done anymore. I need transmission service anyway. Will a shop be able to figure out if something's not quite right?
Posted on 5/14/13 at 2:52 pm to DownshiftAndFloorIt
no egr and no dpf, so no soot...
Posted on 5/14/13 at 2:53 pm to Pepperidge
I want to add a trans temp, oil temp, and oil level gauge to mine.
Oil makes me paranoid

Well damn I have a question.
My PSI monitor on my back left tire is obviously broken and it flashes every time I start the truck and that damn light stays on all the time. Help me fix this.

You fix yours so you can come fix mine.
Mine's been doing that for at least 2 years now.

I'd check all the fluids that are easy to check.
Other than that, a stealership could hook it up to the big arse computer and see if anything unusual is going on.
