Doing a EFI Live single tune and 4 inch exhaust. Have 2 questions for anyone with experience
With the tune, what hp should I go with? Thinking 30. The truck is mostly a farm truck but does do some heavy pulling. (8-15k pounds)
Also, how difficult is the exhaust to bolt on. Thinking with a good set of sockets I can knock it out in a few hours and save money on instal

My buddy can do efi live single tune for you. Honestly would find an exhaust shop to put pipe on. Can do it yourself but why put up with the headache.

I strongly suggest keeping the horsepower as close to stock as possible. Not sure how in depth they get with those tunes but I would keep the torque curve as close to stock as itll let you, especially since you occasionally pull heavy. Bump the torque up and you're going to break stuff. Go way up on torque, hook up something heavy, bury your foot in the skinny pedal and you'll have that allison burnt up in no time.
Exhaust should be fairly simple especially if it uses v band clamps. Kroil the night before, maybe a little heat, oughta all come apart fairly easily.

save your DPF, as you will not be able to resell the truck otherwise.
those LMM's see a nice improvement without the dpf
Congrats on the better fuel mileage!

The exhaust is heavy, but doable by one person. Use a floor jack if it is too heavy.
Don't go crazy on the tune, and get a good real-time monitor. Idk if you can, but set it to detune when certain parameters are reached (EGT, boost, fluid temps, etc)

Many shops/tuners have a "stock" tune that will make the truck much more responsive, without tearing itself up. The EFI live world is much more than saying "Gemme a 30 horse tune Willard." Typically the "there goes the tranny" threshold is "100hp".

Currently running ezlink did fill egr delete with 4” straight pipe on my 2012 powerstroke. Installer put me a turn knob so I can flip between stock and 150 hp in 50 hp increments at will. I leave it hot for around town and free highway running and detube to stock while pulling my fifth wheel.

Only reason I’m doing any of it is because twice in the last 2 weeks my truck has gone into limp mode. Just wanna get this crap off my truck.

Go ahead and get at least a 3 tune EFI live. You can have a light tow 20 HP, a heavy tow 45 hp and a street tune for everday driving at 90 horse. The exhaust is fairly simple in the driveway doing it alone, but I just cut my OEM with a sawzall and let it fall out. I ran my truck on a PPE 120 horse tune for 2 years and it never once limped. I have since switched to an EFI live with a CTS2 monitor. The tranny will hold alot of torque stock before it goes into limp mode. It is really nice to swith tunes on the fly with the EFI live and a DPS switch. The other poster was correct in saying that an EFI live tune is much more than punching in a HP number and taking off. The tunes are written to keep the truck parameters safe from damaging the engine or tranny. I'm making enough power now with a stock tranny that I have to have a long pause between gears to ensure it engages when it hits the next gear. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

The guy thats helping me on it said it will come pre set for my truck and then it’s just loaded on the computer. Said he needed my VIN, tire size, and desired HP.
