A double lunger will drop them on the spot more than anything else I've seen.

My target is brown hair. Most of the time I aim at the shoulder. If they're facing me I shoot them in the neck. If they're facing away from me I'll give them a suppository they'll never forget.

Have taken the neck shot, head shot and yes the poo hole shot...BTW, poo hole drop him in his tracks....COLD just after a rain, tinks hanging on ridge top, he comes in without me seeing until he is on his hind legs....Noses up to the tinks and as soon as his nose touches it, he bolts down the other side of the ridge into the cutover...can see head and poo hole, had heard stories...I sent it, he dropped...While cleaning, bullet entered just to right of glory hole, traveled through, hit lungs, exited out top of back and into his melon...DRT...Except for under stand skillet heads for a head shot, I always, without a doubt go high and tight on the shoulder. Definately not normal practice for a neck or head shot for me...just too easy to miss a inch or two one direction or another and wound one...FYI head shot deer are nasty to clean, unless you like backstrap still quivering in your ice in the chest....flopping on the back of your cart/bike slinging blood everwhere...NASTY....

I would have never taken an arse shot before that, but after doing it by accident and watching that buck drop in his tracks I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. You gotta aim to make the bullet exit where you want though.

I've neck shot the last few I've killed. It puts them down.

I used to shoot the shoulder, but it messes up meat to often. Especially with the "primitive" calibers like 45-70 and .444.
