I have never seen this nor have I done it. I did however have blood smeared on my face after killing my first deer as a right of passage.

My top 3 life moments:
1. Getting my degree
2. Killing my first deer
3. Paying my last note on my first new truck

I don't eat organs, raw or otherwise cooked. Tried it many times, I just don't like it.

ETA: never raw though

why do deer hunters take a bite of the heart raw from the deer they just took?
I thought everyone knew this. It's because the heart, raw, is just so damn tasty. Hard to describe, but it's one of the best things you'll ever taste. I've seen hunters fight over a fresh raw heart.

We fried up the heart of my first elk kill a couple of weeks ago. It was good but I think it would have been better slow cooked with rice and gravy.

I've fried deer hearts and it's pretty good. I have a friend who swears by making a gravy with them. I was making jerky one time and cut up a heart to go along with all the rest of the meat. Don't waste your time doing this. I was making it on my smoker, and the texture of the smoked heart meat was very odd. Powdery almost. I ate it all, but going through a big bag of jerky you could definitely tell the differences in the heart meat from the other.

Liver jerky or sun dried balls. Anus n gravy with a side of kidneys while you are at it

WTF

Eating organs is for Coyotes

except for a good boudin or dirty rice.

This just made up my mind what I was having for dinner.

On top of some yellow corn grits.

If it's in a gravy, it goes well on grits. Fact.

Rarely is the heart intact after I shoot a deer.
