Deer Feeder Question: Spin-type to Gravity System

Thinking of converting my spin type feeders usually baited with corn to a gravity feeder.
Should I use corn or a protein feed in the gravity feeders? What are you guys placing in your gravity feeders? Corn, Protein, Mixture of both, or something else?

Corn in the gravity feeders; protein pellets in covered trough.

We have quite a few bears at our place so during the off season we use trough feeders and I have moultrie feeders that have a spin head that can be removed and a gravity head placed on it.
We are feeding straight protein right now, the bears have some interest but so far they aren't tearing stuff up, as soon as we add corn they bears become a bigger problem. During hunting season I go with corn and hope for the best but use the spin feeder on a timer to have the deer there during daylight hours more often.

We use gravity feeders, but only during the off season. When we start we mix 50/50 corn protein, and then slowly refill to the point of all protein thru the Summer early Fall. We are lucky to not have bears or hogs (yet). If using a feeder during the season I prefer the spin feeders.

We start feeding protein after the season (antler max) and mix it into the corn that was there from the season to somewhat get them from corn to protein. We then feed protein during the spring before the green up and part of the summer. We then mix corn back to mix to get them back on corn for the season.

We run gravity feeders with protein all year. We use to have covered troughs, but coons would literally belly flop and just eat in it like that. Now they can only get what’s spilled, or can reach up and pull out. Not all of them can reach the tubes though.
Had a bear come by once and he did the same thing in the trough feeds.
