I was under the impression that there never is a bluefin season in the GOM because it is the only known spawning grounds of the bluefin tuna. Is there actually a bluefin season in the Gulf that I'm unaware of?

Two stolen, one blow out.
I thought the blow out was a throw away, but after adding the steel hinges from Igloo, it is actually usable in a pinch. Will be a backup for the next time I get one stolen as well as general purpose/crawfish boil one. Or, that guy that makes the cajun coolers could make one with it for me.

So this get this correct? If I catch a blue fin in the GOM I can't keep it b/c the GOM doesn't have a season for it? frick, I might sound like a dumbass but I literally grew up on the water and never knew this.

I wish someone would answer this, I just read an article last week that said that longliners who catch one incidentally can keep a few based on the rest of their catch and some other factors.
