SUCK.

ARSE.

I can hear the fireworks (and air conditioners) and they sound GLORIOUS.

Headed out now with intent to procrastinate until tomorrow.

Will have a cold beer in celebration,

and anticipation,

for possible renal failure,

tomorrow,

bout 10 AM ETA.

Oh well,

Will attempt tomorrow baw; if my phone doesn't melt!

Tldr: if a fellow has ever been trying to make an American buck and thrown a track on a tracked machine, he will know what the word "hellish" means, and that a machine (of ANY kind) ONLY de-tracks (or breaks down) in the most remote of locations and at the most inopportune of times: The dichotomy of the hell-on-earth that is a, "de-tracked machine" vs. the fireworks and relaxing, enjoyable 4th of July celebrations is not lost upon said fellow- assuming he has only an inkling (like I do) of introspect.

The one boost to morale was the sound of the forecrackers, so happy 4th of July baws!

On the 4th I got called out to the catfish farm at 4:45 am by my night crew. Had bunch of low oxygen and fish trying to die, spent 3 hours moving equipment around to save them. Had 6 electric aerators broke and 3 tractor tore up. Managed to rush and get it all fixed and get my boat on the water with the guys and a few ladies by 2:30 pm, and back home to grill wings and boil some shrimp. I was determined not to let Murphy’s law ruin my 4th

Well,

After one too many beers last night, we decided to wait until the "cooler" hours of the evening to get the problem solved. We tried walking a hoe down the goat trail that the mulcher had mowed through a swamp cutover and it wasn't happening (too many large trees in the way and other logistical problems with that). We wanted to lift the machine with the hoe to push the track back on with the tractor forks because that would've been MUCH easier. We resorted to a Kubota tractor, a bushhog (had to cut our way in for the stobs and stickups from the rough mulching of the 1st run), a root grapple to help clear the way and a set of forks for the FEL of the tractor. As expected, the bushhog and grapple were having problems and after 2 hours of downtime with that, we were on the way after failing to get in with the hoe.

The machine threw a track at, per usual, the very worst place that it could've happened: the back of the swamp cutover and in the softest ground mulched thus far. Literally, it was the very back of the property we were clearing- the pit of hell.

Had one option to get the machine (a near 10 ton machine, total, at that) off of the ground to lift the tracks backs on: some Harbor Freight 30 ton hydraulic jacks, wood blocking and shims, some jack stands, a sorry arse uneven stump, pry bars, and the tractor rig. I jacked until I was sick of jacking.

After a couple hours of wishing AIDS on baby kittens and the elderly, the track was replaced, and after one looong shower and a few cold beers, here I sit.

Here she is right before we let her down:

Here she is after we let her down, and this one is for all the downvoters (who can kiss my white arse) (censored for the kids):

No, that is a track for a 100 hp, 20k pound operating weight machine+mulcher. The standard bulldozer you see in multiple applications, say a D5K2, has 104 net hp and is a around 21k pounds. Getting 20 thousand pounds off the ground is 20 thousand pounds, no matter if the thrown track is steel or rubber, so try again.

If we had a big track come off, then the beer woulda had to of waited and some trees woulda been coming down.

Oh well, a standard TD thread derailment, that is all.

Specs say the operating weight is shy of 13k lbs

You got little dick syndrome or something? Huffing chit from a sack and gotten confused? I knew you'd go full TD's tard and pull an arbitrary, BS spec sheet intended for a salesman's brochure-there wasn't a doubt in my mind.

You see that attachment on the front? It has mass- weight- and alot of it. Again, as I said, a 20k pound object lifted off the ground is 20k pounds, and again, as I said, "a near-10 ton machine." If you weren't so worried about looking cool & "right" in a stupid thread not requiring it, then you'd remember basic statistics and the basic theories of "pain in the arse scenarios": what's ~1800 to 2k pounds when you've got nearly 6 times that amount, then having to lift it up with a damn hand jack while in spongey, swampy, muddy ground on the 4th of July- and how big of a pain in the arse it is?

Not chit, that's what it means. Take your adderall and try to keep up with the gist of the conversation, would you?

If you plan on keeping you and your commercial machine around for very long, you don't buy a base model machine of any kind that is being spec'd out for commercial forestry work. I buy as much guarding, aka armor, aka weight, as I can stand to afford. I ain't some corporate conglomerate renting out massive #s of shitey kitted-out machines with bare bones guarding; I'm a regular guy with profit margins, bills to pay, and employees to protect.

The "spec" sheet for the machine you speak of is not for the machine I own. None of my machine's "spec sheets" have ever compensated for the true working weight of the machine (and when DOT is sliding a scale under your chit and telling you to, "pull forward," a spec sheet is as useless as goose chit on a pump handle).

I'd post the actual "spec sheet" of my machine (or one of them, the one in the pic) vs. actual weight on the scales, but I'll digress from lowering my standards. Mainly because the thread was a trivial one about the 4th that I put up as we were coming out of the woods & having a cold beer, but has now turned into some bizarre, standard TD's dick measuring contest for you.

Congrats on your research though little guy. (And your poor reading comp & memory skills.)

That would suck and I’m glad you got it out.

In my mind I was picturing something like this in the water with the track off. Was trying to figure out myself what I would do in that situation.

Me and you have totally different thoughts on what is called a swamp. That looks like dry land to me.

oh look.

No where in that rambling pile of shite was there a point. There is a point though, and it is that his statement that the machine weighed 20k lbs was incorrect

The rest is just his normal trash
