Gonna probably try to get one sometime soon to replace the Revo S on my worm rod. I love the Revo, but I like my other Curado more, and I use my worm rod the most...so. For fishing texas rigs and the occasional swim jig or chatterbait, which would be better? I have a plastic with 1/8oz weight tied on this rod 99% of the time, and probably fish with it 70%+ of the time I fish bass. I have an E7 already on my trout/redfish rod. I throw cranks on it sometimes, but it's really too fast for that.

Is an E5 too slow for worms and brush hogs? I find myself fishing them too fast sometimes with the Revo (6.4:1). I think the E5 would help me to slow it down a bit when I need to. Is this sound logic?

I use my E7 for everything except cranks. I can slow down my retrieve any time I want. However, I cannot speed it up beyond the reel's capabilities.

I've never had a problem reeling fast enough, even with the 6.4:1. I find I always have a problem slowing down when I need to. When the fish are lethargic I almost always retrieve too fast, even when I pause in between.

I may just get an E5 and see, if I don't like it I'll buy a cranking rod an put it on there. The falcon coastal/E7 is a nice combo, but I burn cranks too fast with it.

I don't take any of that into consideration.

Think I should just find another E7 for my worm rod?

My spinnerbait setup has a Revo SX 6.4:1 on it right now...cranks kind of float around between rods depending on how I feel that day...I need to get some kind of a cranking rod one of these days

ppl will tell you different things, texas rigging all you're really doing is reeling up slack, you should be able to slow down your presentation fine with it and it will let you catch up to them faster on the hookset, sportsman will tell you e5 since he uses them for damn near everything

I guess whenever I have $150 to burn I'll get whichever is easier to find or cheaper.

I like the slower ratios just because that is what I'm used to.

I use the E5 but all my fisher friends use the E7.
My preference since I mainly do jigging.

E7's are harder to come by on eBay. I'll just see what I can get when I'm ready to get it I guess. That may come after I get a finesse setup though, I throw wacky rigs enough to where I'm gonna need that come summer.

I like them but I hate a foam handle. Not sure why, but I have to have cork.

This Curado is gonna go on an American Rodsmith Champions rod I picked up on sale a few years ago for $40. Best 40 bucks I've spent on fishing equipment, it was marked down from $80. I like it more than my Falcons, I've only ever found that one for $40, and I've seen a few more 7' heavy ones over the years pop up, all for $80. Not sure why they quit making it.

Get the Chronach instead. Shimano changed the Curado recently taking out a bearing to make cheaper. The chronarch is the old Curado

That's what I'm talking about, the new Curados are designated G, like 200G5 and 200G7. The older models, the same as the new Chronarch E series, were also designated E. That's what I'm gonna get. Can be had on eBay NIB for $150ish right now.

I like the feel of cork too much to get one without it. I'm not sure why, just the way it is

I would get the E7, I have one of each and that E5 is a sloooowwww reel and I only use it for crank baits and spinnerbaits. A fast reel shouldn't make you work a worm faster, all you do is reel in the slack from each pull.

well you could throw another hunned at the new Castaway Skeleton Microguide if you just have to have cork.
