A good friend of mine shot this duck. He is shipping it to a specialist in Colorado to get mounted. It will take 90days to get it back, but when he gets it, I will post some pics.

Mallard Drake/Gadwall
At first look, it appeared to be crossed with a Widgeon....as it had a line across the head under they eye. The bottom of his head was brownish grey.......but the Gadwall giveaway was the color on the wing and the Brown/Black Specs in his belly.
Should have taken more pics.............

Those mallard hens sure are whores
actually, it is the mallard drakes who are rapists...I used to raise wild breeds of ducks....if there was one mallard drake in the pen, he would chase any female to exhaustion to breed with them....sometimes would drown the female...
I finally decided that the best place for mallards is in a pot on the stove....

interestign question but how would you count that in you limits?
could you use it as a wild card? if you have too many woodduck drakes you call it a mallard and if you have too many mallards you call it a woodduck?

Here is the pic of his mount. He hasn't gotten it back yet, but it should be shipping this week. The mount looks awesome.

Nice mount. What price tag for it? I still have a bird I needed mounted. Anyone around the Baton Rouge area that doesn't charge a arm and a leg?

I am not sure exactly what he paid for it, but the guy cut him a deal because of how rare the bird was. He wanted it to put a picture up in his gallery. That is the reason for the professional picture. I will ask him to see how much it was.
