Bought the $148 Crossbow from Walmart and a buddy told me to only buy Crossbow broadheads. Are they the same thing? Can I interchange them?
Any suggestions on whether mechanical or fixed? TIA

If your gonna shoot mechanical you want to use a head designed for a Xbow to ensure it don’t open in flight .
If using fixed go with a small diameter head to minimize planing at extreme long range since most bolts will not have helical fletching.

I’ve used both with zero problems. I use rage 3 blade. There are many good ones…

100 gr xbow Swackers fly great and actually group at 40 yards in my cheap Man Kung. The blood trail is not great but visible.

I’d go with the grim reaper crossbow heads. I shot them out of my ravin at 455fps, before I sold it. And my buddy has the 500fps ravin and shoots them out of it. They don’t open in flight, and they kill the hell out of deer and leave massive blood trails. I shoot pigs with their compound heads out of my compound bow since they’re cheaper than my fixed blade heads.

From my reading after purchasing the same bow, mechanical are the same whether rated for crossbow or compound. I bought 3 Rage mechanicals on sale for 22.00. Also after some reading I found where many crossbow hunters use the cheap rage copies from Ebay so I bought 24 of them to try out. They all recommended using a dental band on the blades as extra insurance. And if you want some lighted nocks these also come highly rated.

I smoked a pig a few weeks ago with a crossbow. Used the Rage 3 broadheads. Had zero issues.
