I know this topic has been brought up a million times but I seem to have a different issue.

In brief,
The rubber on one side arm started to detach/peel. (glasses ~9 months old)
Did the claim process yesterday and today I received an email stating they will be replaced under warranty. (I did not have the receipt for anyone wondering)
Issue is my particular Frame color is not available at the moment.
They offered to replace mine with any of the other lens/frame color combos that are "available" for my model.
I really do not care for any of the options provided.

After reading the warranty documents provided by them it seems I have two options.
A- Let the offer expire (2 days) and re-open another claim at a later date.
B- "contact the Luxottica North American Call Center to receive an alternative service covered under warranty or reimbursement."

Obviously both seem to be a crap shoot. However, option B seems to be the better alternative as I am willing to go to
a completely different model for a replacement.

I'd like to think someone here on the great OB has ran into this before, if so what did you do?

Man, give the call center a call. They are awesome. I had the same problem early this year and when I called, the guy let me pick a completely different model. He even told me to go to a Costas retailer and try on different models to ensure I get a pair I like. As long as you don’t try to get a more expensive model, they will work with you.

Just send them in, they will fix or replace for cheap.

I have utilized it twice pre-buyout. The MSRP on my glasses was $250. They came up with an excuse it was my fault and replaced both pairs for $60. Second time the frames were no longer available, so they sent a similar frame.

This is 100% the information I was looking for and actually hoping to get.

That is great because like I said, I wouldn't mind going to a different style. My model was/is still relatively new and the rubber peeled within 7-8 months of ownership. I'd rather go to a different model that has been around longer and thru refinement to avoid this issue again.

I'm unsure if stock shown on their main website has anything to do with their warranty department, but it sure looks to me like it does.
Costa must be having issues with logistics because a lot of their most popular glasses are shown as unavailable. So this may make my time harder.

I will give them a call later when I have time and see what they say.

They've already approved mine to be "replaced under warranty" & at no cost.
My issue was that they can't replace mine with the exact ones I have. They are not available/in stock. The options given to me for replacement I do not care for either.
I mentioned this in the OP.

Call them. They just sent me a new pair.

However Maui Jim has been an issue that I am willing to blame on COVID.

I'm thinking Costa is too.
I found a Model I like and I know fit me because I use to have them.
They are showing them as in stock. I will call shortly to see if they would be willing to let me go this route.

I lost some in a boat years, found the glasses, not my guns. I need to send them in and I’m expecting half the msrp price as these are far from what they were.

I had a similar situation prior to the Luxotica buyout. I had a silver frame Fantail with blue lenses, rubber falling off. Got a call that the silver frame no longer available, had to pick black, grey or tortoise frame. I called BS on that because they did not have an exact replacement. So he said I could only pick another style other than the Fantail if it was available in the silver frame. The only silver frame left at the time was the Saltbreak (too wide for me); so I broke down and took the Fantail in the grey frame. When I got them they did not fit the same as the silver, so I dumped them on eBay. I still have 3 pair CDM and son has 2 pair, wifey has 1 pair. Currently have a pair of Rinconcito that the screws on the arm pieces keeps backing out. Frustrating. I'd take my biz elsewhere but CDM and MJ are the only 2 that still offer glass lenses that I am aware of. F those plastic lenses, no where close to the same as glass.
