You could get a pretty cool flintlock or percussion black powder pistol or long rifle for that price. To get real quality out of your $1k one of the Track of the Wolf kits and build your own rifle. I love the lines of their southern mountain long rifles built from plain iron without all the fancy brass.

Hell yeah. My interest in black powder guns is growing larger.
I own a stupid inline, and an ok Hawken style rifle.

One day I'll have one as nice as those. Maybe even a BP shotgun
