My wife shoots a S&W 640 which is close to the same weight as that Ladysmith.
A lot of people grab an airweight or other light snubby and hand it to their wife, then they wonder why she doesn't like the recoil. Heavier guns aren't as nice for carrying around, but they're nicer on recoil. (Even some guy at the gun counter was trying to tell me that my wife wouldn't like it. Even though I explained to him that it was a heavier gun, and she'd already shot a detective special close to the same size.)
I started my wife with a .22lr revolver and showed her the basics of sight picture and trigger control. I showed her that to pull a double action, you need to have a quick, but steady trigger pull. Once she got the mechanics down, I moved her to the .38. Every now and then I'd switch it up with letting her dry fire to make sure she hadn't developed a flinch, jerk, etc.
