Anyone know anyone in the Covington area that does the concealed carry course? I need to renew but have a couple friends that want to do the full class. I’ve used bearco before but he only has one course listed right now.

I looked online and saw you can do a non resident Virginia license all online, then apply for the Louisiana permit after that. Has anyone had luck doing it that way before? Trying to see if I could do it that way during the quarantine.

I've had dennis lee do mine twice. Lives out in abita, did it at his house last time i took course, has a shooting shed in the back.

In Louisiana you have to take the full class even for renewal. Don't think you can do it online.

Nope. Louisiana does not accept non-resident permits (permits issued by a state other than one's legal state of residency).

I've had a couple of guys call during the last year who admitted that they fell for the Virginia scam and now needed to schedule a Louisiana CCW class.

P.S. The State Police Concealed Handgun Permit unit is shut down (as part of Gov. Edwards' March 22nd "Stay at Home" proclamation). The unit is not being staffed during this period, so no applications are being processed.

If you don't already have a permit, this is a bad time to be seeking one. If you already have one, none will expire during this shutdown.

Yea, it’s not a bad time to do a class as long as the size is within reason. I did one this past Sunday since one of my students hosted it and I didn’t have to use a business building or anything.

There has been an extension for the expiration dates up until May 10. LSP just sent out an email recently.

Send me an email if you need more info. Bigapple828@aim.com

I really need to do this again so I can quit carrying my rifle around scaring people.

Bapple, just sent you an email about the extension.

Chad, thanks for the name. I will reach out to him, that’s close for me.
