Maybe I overlooked it on your site, but I didn't see any scheduled courses. Do you have any upcoming renewal classes scheduled?

I don't list dates on the site -- because my classes usually fill up within an hour or two after I announce the date. So I hate to have people read the date online, start planning with their friends, and then learn that the class is already full.

Plus, not everyone qualifies. I usually have folks call, or we exchange emails, and confirm that the class is a good "fit" for them.

I usually refer the "soccer moms" to Gordon or to Precision ............... or suggest that they call me and schedule a private tutorial on handgun marksmanship (to get them "up to speed" before enrolling them in my CHP class).

Sounds like she'll be GTG w/o any private tutoring.

An update for you if you still haven't renewed your permit. I went to Alan Esterly yesterday. Started at 7am and finished instruction at 10, went to the range to shoot. He is easy to schedule, actually prefers one-on-one, goes out of his way to schedule at your convenience. This was by far the best renewal I have been through. He charges $75 and this includes photos and notary stamp. All that is left for you to do is to send in the application to state police for renewal.

There's a reason Gordon's classes are so booked up

Agreed. I asked to be put on a waiting list and got squeezed in a class about 2 weeks ago. It's the only CC class I've taken, but I can't say enough how good it was. Very informative.

I took dawg23's class and highly recommend it. He has taken a lot of training from the best in the country and knows what he is talking about. Gives you lots of good information on the ramifications of a self defense shooting, legal aspects, what to expect, emotional and mental aspects and some real life examples.

Get on his waiting list and jump on the first class he offers. Well worth it.

May want to edit that post. Aren't instructors required to do the full 8 hrs no matter what? I think the lsp cracked down on that a couple years ago.

My first course was a guy like this, so I may take a full course from dawg so I can get some more info this go round.

Thanks for the update regardless

no this is legit. He covered all required material. And he knows the issue in Lafayette that precipitated the crackdown. That instructor is where I had my previous renewal. Renewals don;t require 8 hours.

I had the instructor in Lafayette on my first one. Helll, I may not even be legal now.

I didn't know the renewal didn't require The full 8 hrs. Thanks.

If things go as planned, I will get to take my renewal class with a new Kimber. Gonna start checking prices and hopefully buy it when I get back from Disney in a couple weeks.
