Which gun?

I think I posted in here that I have a couple of Desantis leather OWB holsters that I like a lot. They sit high and and have very good retention.

Now I have to get an OWB holster.

Those are generally much more forgiving than IWB. Just figure out where you want to carry, what you want (kydex or leather, hybrid, do you want snap retention) and order from a well known manufacturer and you'll be fine.

I personally prefer an OWB leather cross draw but they're harder to find than typical 4 o'clock or appendix carry.

The biggest issue with it is one that's been pointed out - you look like a douche. It's disrespectful to the community around you. The reality is that most people are uncomfortable around guns and toting one around openly is generally going to make a lot of people uncomfortable and draw attention to you. Just don't do it. There's places that it is acceptable and out and about in public is not one of them. The tactical considerations are all very valid as well but odds are they won't matter. The social considerations are 100% certain to be an issue.

Honestly, it really depends on the prevailing culture of where you’re at. When I lived in southern Arizona, it was nothing to go into a grocery store and see a dozen people open carrying. And I’m not talking about SDV9’s and Judges. These people had Wilson Combat 1911’s and Gucci Glocks.

I didn’t really think anything of it and neither did anyone else there. However, doing that in BR would be a completely different story.

I was going to take a walk today with a CC under my sweatshirt, but the profile of my handgun was showing. I am now looking into a pocket holster.

Don’t do that. Pocket carry kinda sucks. The truth is that 90% of people don’t pay attention to what’s going on around them. Worrying about printing is the biggest initial hurdle everyone has to overcome. I eventually had to tell myself that no one is paying attention and even if they see it, I have a permit so I don’t really give a shite.

Yeah it’s doubtful many people will notice printing. But still, I’m self conscious of it too. Any loose shirt is fine. If I’m wearing a snug shirt then I pocket carry a snubnose no problem.
