If I had to choose from a stability standpoint, pine trees are much safer to climb. Thicker bark allows the base to be a little cockeyed and still dig in. On hardwoods they are all wobbly because the prongs dont dig in
meh, just a fat joke... nothing to "dig in to".

The grand is a really nice stand and is light weight but ole man climbers in general are kinda wobbly and feel unstable. I know a few people that hunt out of them and they love them.

The one thing that I do like about my API is the bungee cord that holds your feet into the base when you are climbing. It will loop around the heel of your boot and make it easier to pivot the base. Other than that, it is loud, heavy, takes a while to assemble/disassemble, and doesn't collapse very well

The climbing part of mine is what I hate most about it. I have the API quest and it is a nightmare to climb. It is definitely heavy and loud

The Equalizer is able to level to trees that have changing diameters as you climb up. I have been using it for years, and while I am only 200 lbs, this stand has an XL version that can hold more weight (and has a wider seat). It also has three different seat positions to choose from.
I have climbed many of other stands and haven't felt more safe than in an equalizer (especially on pine trees).

I have the Summitt Goliath. It is basicly the viper with a extra wide seat. Im 235, buy also a little vertically challenged. I have plenty of room in this stand even when Im wearing the thick bibs and jacket.
