Wife and I were gonna have a little getaway for our anniversary. That same weekend the oldest boy has a rodeo in DeRidder so trying to find something kinda close to do for the weekend and still make the rodeo. Looking at maybe getting a cabin at Chicot and just curious about people’s experience. Do they have boat rentals? Wife likes to drown some crickets.

Check to see if they are open. They were a covid concentration camp at one point and not open to the public.

Chicot does have boat rentals.

You may want to look at South Toledo Bend S.P. because Chicot is not exactly close to DeRidder. Looks like they have cabins and boat rentals as well.

They are open. My neighbor rented a cabin last week. Couldn’t even catch a bream off of the dock.

75 miles from Chicot to DEEridder. Been a few years since I've rented a cabin at Chicot but it is my favorite LA state park. Go for the old original cabins, not the newer Morgan building style cabins.

They have boat rentals but sometimes run out of boats.

You can rent a canoe or a fishing boat. This fishing boat is a metal flat boat. It's stable and good for fishing but it's like paddling a brick through the water.

Most of the hiking trail around the lake is closed BUT the good trails are in the State Arboretum (connected to Chicot State Park) and they're open.

The "deluxe" cabins are fairly nice. A lot of them are right on the lake with a little fishing dock and a nice nature/swamp view. Look at the map online and try to get a cabin on the water.

The park is open. Book cabin rental now because they book up quick.
My personal favorite is cabin #2 because it’s close to the water but still has a “yard”.
I’ll loan you my smaller boat with 25 merc so you don’t have to paddle. I have a clamp on 45lb trolling motor. It’s no Skeeter but it’ll get the job done for casual cricket drowning.
Not sure the time of year you are planning but if it’s summer, bring tick repellent.
I don’t live far so let me know if you have any other questions. Arboretum is nice and interesting also.

Had a senior jungle juice party at a rented cabin in 1980 . Was checking cabin and looked in fridge . In the freezer was a gallon bag of marijuana someone had left . Good times .
