I have a 22 model with the 6.2.
and she will fly for a half ton. only have 12k miles so no issues yet. I would definitely get the 6.2

Seems like a bunch of 2.7s out there and can be had for relatively cheap
Manufacturer’s rebates is why. No one really wants a 4cyl in a full sized truck(even though it is quite capable). G’ovt regulations for fuel economy is the reason for the 2.7L.

Thanks for the info. Will likely stay away from that then. Wish I was a diesel guy but I’m not. I’ll look into the 5 and 6 Ls

Absolutely fantastic! 2 versions, one with trailering equipment, one without…

2023 Chevy trail boss with 3.0 LZ0. 28,000 miles. Transmission is shot. Needs new valve body and solenoids. Been at dealership since the 19th and parts are on “nation wide back order”
I’m going to trade it in as soon as it is fixed.

This is the thread where all the gm guys brag about not having any issues on trucks with less than 50k.
MFer it's new! It shouldn't have a single issue.
Guy at work put 140k on his 20-21 with 6 2. Traded it in because the trans was going out. Bought the exact same truck....
I swear I don't understand the new truck buyers.
I'm a single repair away from buying a early 80s bullnose ford with the inline six and getting a rav4 as a commuter.

While my Chevy 2500HD was getting the oil changed my wife looked at and feel in love with the GMC Canyon Elevation models. When we decide to stop traveling in our 34' travel trailer we will most likely get a smaller truck.

Thankfully I don’t have a need for a new truck but it’s a crap shoot nowadays no matter what brand you choose. Fords, ram, Chevy and hell even Toyota have issues now.
If you can get a Chevy 5.3 with emissions shite deleted that’s a great engine, or if you could find a used Toyota with the 5.7 should be good for a long while. Certain years of the ford eco boost are good too.

I'm genuinely asking as I have not heard anything except for the 22 and 23 engines that have been recalled.
What issues are you hearing on the new toyotas outside of the recall.
Mine is a '22 and is part of the recall. Not sure when but I will be getting a new engine in mine. ~ 55k miles on it so far.
I got mine very early. Ordered it in Jan '22 and got it in May '22. Gave the Sequoia I had to my son.

I don’t have a Toyota so no personal experience I think it’s the recall you mentioned plus some other small issues that Toyota usually doesn’t have like air bag issues, transmission creeps etc and they have some small recalls on 2024-25 models for seat belts and brakes hoses. Nothing major but just little quality control issues that Toyota seemed to be better at in the past.
Not to mention they have come out with some new models, engines and transmissions that have had small teething issues. The 8 speed tranny appears to have had some early issues. the new turbo 4 cylinder hybrid they put in the Land Cruiser. It’s very early but I highly doubt that engine will be as reliable as earlier land cruisers. I know it’s an entirely different platform as they made it smaller than previous land cruisers but I’d bet the 5.7 v8 will outlast all of them.
Similar feelings to the turbo 6 cylinder they put in the new Lexus GX. It may turn out to be a a fine engine but makes you a little weary given Toyota and any other manufacturers luck on new engines these days
All that said I wouldn’t tell someone to not buy a Toyota but keep in mind they may not be quite as reliable as they used to be
