Chauvin/Cocodrie Reports

I spent this past weekend down at the camp. We caught about 40 trout for the weekend. All the fish we caught were in Lake Boudreaux and were pretty scattered. We couldn't find any big schools of fish. The fish actually had some decent size to them (14-16 inch). Heard some reports that fish were starting to be caught in the Seabreeze Pass/Lake Barre area, but with all the wind that area was muddy as hell.
Anyone else with any reports from the area? Planning to head back this Friday.

Good to hear they might be in both areas still. We did well in Boudreaux until the wind piked up 3 weeks ago. We also tried Seabreeze and points south when it calmed down, nothing.
I can't wait to go south and catch fish again. Looking at maybe a boil late week, wind permitting we will try then, probably just south though.

One of the doctors I work with said his neighbor down in Cocodrie said they caught 200 specks this weekend in Lake Boudreaux. Their camps are on Boudreaux. He is going tomorrow.

If true, that is pretty impressive. I'm not going to say I'm the best fisherman down there, but I usually hold my own. The wind was pretty tough Saturday and even more so Sunday. As scattered as the fish were, it was pretty difficult to move around and stay on a steady bite.
I'm really looking forward to may/June. I think the fishing out on the islands is going to be incredible.

I won't be heading down to the camp until May but when I do I may never come back.

South side of Boudreaux. Thats all I know. I have never fished it. If I were off tomorrow, I would be going with him.

I caught 10 in Lake Robinson not far from Lake Boudreaux. They were definitely scattered but like you said they were decent sized with no throwbacks. I caught mine on a shallow flat maybe 30" deep using a cork with a tsunami lure. Probably had to make 10-15 casts between strikes and I noticed the fish had empty stomachs when I cleaned them. Probably fished about 3 hours to catch those ten trout and the reds and drum were slow as well. I also had piss poor luck with my crab traps only catching one dozen with 8 traps. A commercial guy did run mine and remove the bait during the day on saturday forcing me to rebait and move them. a-hole put his string out 5-10' away from each of my traps. People act like they own the whole fricking lake

ETA: Unless they have a camp down there, then its a totally different story!
ETA2: and of course everyone around us is from Raceland so there is usually nothing different down there than I'd see when I was in high school
