Alright OB, I need a chain saw for occasional use. Nothing serious, just occasional use. Basically, I'm buying it to clean up my grandmother's yard. She will be 83 next month and just isn't able to keep her yard up. What I've been looking at are Stihl and Husqvarna. Seems like I can get a little more motor for my money with a Husqvarna vs Stihl. Looking to spend about $300, and this is the one I've been eyeing.

LINK

Can anyone give me any reason to buy or not buy this saw? Any recommendations in the same price point would be welcomed. TIA

I have a Stihl chainsaw and Echo weedeater, post hole digger, and pole saw. I like the Echo's the best, and when I upgrade chainsaws it will be an Echo.

I have 2 stihls. A 310 and a 170. The 170 is great for branches and what not. 310 for bigger stuff. I prefer Stihl because there’s a stihl dealer not far from my house. And the places that sell husqvarana close to me don’t have a service center. I haven’t needed any work done that I couldn’t do but it’s nice to have that option Incase something goes wrong that I can’t fix.

I'd get an Echo. I have 4 of them and they've ran great for years. I'm sure Stihl is great but I had nothing but issues with the one I owned

Thanks for the quick recommendations everyone. I will have to look into those Echos. And ChandlerB03, if you are who I think you are, we went to high school together. I was the year between you and your little sister. My initials are DH. My mom worked at the school.

I only buy stihl 2 stroke equipment. I learned my lesson along time ago buying cheap 2 strokes.

I use to only buy stihl. But I bought a backpack blower a while back that I have been really impressed with. I’ll be switching to them due to price when equipment needs changing. My saws will always be stihl though.

That's a fine saw for occasional use around the house. I have a Stihl 025 and a MS391 but that Husky or a similar Echo would be fine. Much more important that you drain out the fuel after use and keep a sharp chain on it. TruFuel would be a good thing to run it on.

That's exactly what my buddy told me, who has a lot more experience with saws than I do. Thanks!

+1

You're not gonna be dissappointed with Stihl, Husky, or Echo. Keep the chain sharp, bar oil full, and gas clean and you'll be fine

but if I had to buy one right now to clean up a yard and cut down some trees:
